The first day of school at Satsop was a big one. After starting the school year at a temporary site, students finally returned to their historic school and got to see the progress that has been happening all summer long.

The Big Toy made its comeback, and that alone set the tone for the day! It is in a new spot, and it is already getting plenty of use. Inside, students were quick to find the new drinking fountain and water bottle refill station, which is officially up and running.

A lot has changed around campus. The parking lot is fully paved now, which means no more muddy shoes or jumping over puddles on rainy mornings. Two classrooms have their historic hardwood floors restored, and the difference is huge. New learning spaces are in place, bathrooms have seen some updates, and the building overall feels refreshed and ready for students again.

We are not finished yet, but it felt right to welcome students and staff back as work continues. Christensen General Contractors are still hard at work finishing the highly anticipated new gym space. There are also a few finishing items still underway, including paint touch ups, permanent doors and signage, and some minor site improvements outside.

Seeing students back in their school, using new spaces, and enjoying familiar parts of campus again made the first day feel like a real milestone. We are excited to keep things moving and share more updates as the project continues.
