Scope of Work
Site Work
Several key site improvements are being implemented to enhance safety, accessibility, and functionality across the Satsop campus. These upgrades include resurfacing the baseball field, paving the existing parking lot, and adding site and parking lot lighting to improve visibility and security. An ADA-compliant ramp will be added at the north exit of the school, and the playground will be relocated to better align with site circulation and student safety. A new sidewalk will be installed to the southeast of the field area to support student pick-up. Additional enhancements include general landscaping upgrades throughout the grounds and underground utility work to support essential plumbing improvements. As part of required fire and life safety measures, a new 30-foot-wide by 10-foot-tall water tank will also be installed behind the gym/multi-purpose space. Together, these improvements aim to create a safer, more welcoming, and efficient environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Building Work
Satsop students currently learn and gather in two main buildings on campus. The historic schoolhouse includes three classrooms, a library, two office spaces, and a conference room that supports both instruction and administration. Adjacent to the schoolhouse, the gym building serves multiple purposes. It houses a stage for student performances and also functions as the lunchroom and multipurpose space for schoolwide activities and events.

Extensive improvements are being made to both of Satsop’s existing school buildings to preserve their historic character while better supporting modern educational needs. Inside the original schoolhouse, upgrades include refinishing the building’s historic hardwood floors, installing lighting fixtures that honor the school’s 123-year legacy, and improving the layout of the office and conference spaces. The schoolhouse will also receive new paint, updated carpeting and flooring, improved storage, and enhancements to the iconic school bell.

Adjacent to the schoolhouse, the gym building is undergoing a major transformation. The existing covered outdoor play area will be fully enclosed to serve as the new gym, allowing the current gym space to be repurposed as a dedicated multipurpose building. Between the new gym and multipurpose space, the project will add new restrooms, a storage room, and a kitchen to better serve students and staff during schoolwide events and daily activities.
