Concrete Proof of Progress

On Friday, September 19, Satsop School reached an exciting milestone. Crews poured the concrete slab for the new gymnasium, officially laying the groundwork for a project that will serve the whole community. At the same time, the team completed the ADA-accessible ramp on the north side of the main building, adding a safe and welcoming route for all.

This is more than concrete. It is the foundation for the new gym, kitchen, bathrooms, and storage space that students and staff have been wishing for. And yes, the bathrooms are a big deal. After years of long walks back to the main building, the idea of having restrooms right next to the play space has everyone cheering.

The new gymnasium will take the place of the existing covered play area and connect directly to the multipurpose room. Once complete, it will include basketball hoops, a rolling garage-style entry door, and skylights to brighten the space with natural light. But it will be more than a place for sports. The gym will be home to school plays, concerts, and assemblies, giving students a stage and the community a place to come together and celebrate.

With the slab poured, the vision is coming to life. Each step forward brings Satsop closer to a space built for learning, playing, performing, and gathering. It will be a place the entire community can be proud of.
